Passphrase Generator
Secure, memorable passphrases made from random words.

A passphrase of 4–6 random words is often more secure than a short complex password — and far easier to remember. Our generator uses EFF Diceware word lists with cryptographic randomness.
Frequently asked questions
A passphrase made of words drawn at random from a fixed list. The lists used here hold 7776 words each, so every word contributes about 12.9 bits of entropy. The security comes from the random draw alone, not from what the words mean.
Four words give around 51 bits, five around 65 and six around 78. Five words are a reasonable compromise for everyday accounts; use six for password managers, email accounts and disk encryption.
At equal entropy it is exactly as safe. The advantage is practical: a passphrase can be memorised, dictated and typed on a remote control. The drawback is its length — some input fields cap it.
